Abstract
Antimony has been identified as one critical raw material in major economies due to its economic significance and high supply risks. Since China is the largest antimony producer in the world, its antimony trade efficiency may influence the global antimony industrial chain. This study aims to measure the impacts of China's antimony products trade for the period of 2011–2020 by using a complex network analysis method and an extended Stochastic Frontier Gravity model (SFGM). The results show that China's antimony products trade network contains insufficient trade links, in which trade efficiencies of China's antimony products to Europe and Asia are higher than those to other regions. Countries involved in the trade of upstream antimony products are more concentrated, while countries involved in the trade of midstream and downstream antimony products are more diversified. Economic development and population size, governmental integrity, shipping connectivity and tariff barriers are the key factors influencing antimony products trade efficiency between China and its trade partners. Several policy recommendations are then proposed to improve the antimony products trade efficiency in China and facilitate those decision makers to prepare sustainable antimony products trade policies.
