Abstract
The article is a visual essay which draws on the concept of ‘Blue Urbanism’ to trace the many ways that coastal waters work in co-shaping and remaking diverse urbanities, and ways of being urban(e). Based on work across three metropolises in Southeast Asia – Jakarta, Metro Manila, and Singapore – it critiques both utopian and dystopian assumptions revolving around coastal contingencies.
