Abstract

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book addresses common aspects that include: using Sociology of Knowledge Approach to Discourse (SKAD) in generating the specifics of the research perspective and questions; presenting analytical categories taken from SKAD; describing the data selection process and sampling; and illustrating the concrete application of SKAD in data analysis. The aspects also include: describing the issue-specific analytical framework developed and its relation to SKAD; demonstrating the integration and presentation of empirical findings; as well as noting potential contributions to the particular research area. The book explores SKAD's embeddedness within the interpretive paradigm, as well as its affinities with ethnographic work, analysis of meaning making and the sociology of knowledge. Much like situational analysis developed by Adele E. Clarke, SKAD argues for the urgent need for inquiry into processes of discursive construction and world making.
